Is it really free?
Yes. You get 5 free cutouts per day in this browser, and no sign up is needed.
Does it work on photos of real people?
Not well. The model is trained on anime and illustrations, so real photos usually come out blank or messy. Use an anime or drawn image.
Where is my image processed?
Your image is sent to an open-source model hosted on Hugging Face and processed there.
Why is there a light edge around the character?
The cutout is placed on a white background before the transparency is applied, so very fine details such as hair strands can keep a light fringe. Cropping a little closer usually removes it.
Do you keep my images?
We do not store your images on our own servers. The picture is processed by the model on Hugging Face to create your result.
Can I use the result in my own project?
The model licence allows commercial use, but you need to own the rights to the original picture. Please do not upload artwork that is not yours.
How large can my image be?
There is no hard limit on our side. In our own tests a 512-pixel illustration came back in about 4 seconds, while a 2000-pixel one took about 5 seconds and returned a PNG of roughly 3 MB, which may download slowly on mobile.
Why is it sometimes slow?
The model runs on a shared CPU and takes one request at a time. When several people use it at once your picture waits in a queue: in our own test, three requests at the same moment took up to 11 seconds, and all of them finished. Please give it about 15 seconds before you retry.
